Before joining the Empower Her Ability Project, Esther was already running her grain farming business. However, she did not have a proper system for keeping records or tracking her finances. She cultivated, harvested, and sold her produce without being able to clearly determine whether her business was making a profit or loss.
As a woman with physical disability, Esther also faced challenges including limited access to finance, difficulty accessing her farm during the rainy season, and dependence on family members for labour.
Through the Empower Her Ability Project, Esther received entrepreneurship training, mentorship, and exposure to funding opportunities. She learned how to track her expenses, calculate profit and loss, and use financial information to make more informed business decisions.
Today, Esther keeps proper financial records and has expanded her farming activities from one rented farmland to two. She also feels more confident contributing to decisions within her family business.
For Esther, the Empower Her Ability Project helped her move from farming without clear financial records to managing and expanding her business with greater knowledge and confidence.
